We spent a day and a half at a lovely Craftsman style inn deep in Glacier National Park. The weather was magnificent. Cool and sunny with nothing but a big blue Montana sky above. There is no way to do justice to the park in a day and a half, but we enjoyed some relaxation (even a nap for me) around the hotel the first day and then hit the Driving to the Sun road to the second day. In one day we managed to see mountain goats, black bears, a few spectacular waterfalls and to have a brief snowball battle at the visitors center in Logan Pass. Jeff managed to safely manouever a 15 passenger van along mountain roads reminiscent of Alfred Hitchkoks To Catch a Thief.
The next morning as rain set in we tramped back to the train station for our final leg on the eastbound Empire Builder. Last night we slept through most of the great state of N Dakota and woke up to the 10,000 lakes of Minnesota. What an amazing varied country we have. May it ever be the land of the free and the home of the brave. Happy 4th of July to all!
