From, Bute 4

After all the gear was packed up, most of the scouts loaded it in the trailer while a couple other scouts and I, took down the monkey bridge. When everything was loaded up, Mr. Deis drove it all down to the parking lot. We unloaded the trailer and loaded up the cars. Soon all the cars left except the van that was owned by the troop and our van. We climbed into the cars and drove off. Well that's what we intended to do but the troop van's rear wheels were sunk into about in inch of mud. Everyone pushed on the hood of the troop van but we couldn't get the van out of the mud. Finally all the scouts that were still there, climbed into the wagon and Mr. Deis drove us up to a little shelter near the barn. We un-hitched the trailer from the tractor and pushed it into the shelter.

We had a campout this weekend at a Mr. Dies's farm. It was a very eventful campout but I will save that for later posts because something happened at the end that I really want to tell you about. The campsite was pretty far away from the parking lot so Mr. Dies took us and our gear back and forth in the tractor and wagon. This morning when we left it was really really muddy (as will be mentioned a lot in later posts) and we loaded a lot of really heavy gear in the troop van before pulling out of the grass parking spot. When we were ready to go Mr. Sfikas, who was driving the van tried to back out but the wheels just spun and spun and the van wouldn't move. So we had to jump out and try to push it out. We could almost get it out but it just would not move. It turns out the back wheels were about an inch and a half deep in mud. So finally all the scouts that hadn't already left jumped in the wagon and Mr. Deis drove us up to the campsite. We unhitched the trailer and ran back down to the parking lot Mr. Deis followed in the tractor. He brought a chain and attached one end to the back of the tractor and the other to the hitch on the back of the troop van after that it didn't take long to get it out
well we were all on our way again or so it seemed. The troop van still did not move. The front wheels were caught in the same place. We manged to push it out this time though. It was a lot of fun but I'm out of time here so I'll tell you more about the campout later.
