Downtown Columbus used to be considered basically a ghostown on evenings and weekends. In the time I have lived in Columbus it has actually seen a tremendous amount of revitalization and development. This summer they opened a new park along the Scioto River including a spray park. I had been looking for a chance to check it out.
This weekend the opportunity presented itself. Peter and Carlee were coming to town Saturday night. One of our family's all time favorite movies -- Robin Hood (with Errol Flynn) was playing as part of the Summer Movie Series in the old Ohio Theater. So we decided to pack a picnic dinner and make an evening out of it.
It was another hot, muggy summer evening and the kids made the most of the fountain. It as especially fun to intorduce the youngest Butes to a movie we have always enjoyed so much. Bute5 wiggled in his seat and yelled out "this is my favorite part!" during every exciting battle scene (which, if you have seen the movie is most scenes). Bute6 was, of course, fascinated by Lady Marian's constant changes of costume!
All in all it was a very special time with our extended family!
