Dayton Airshow

Last weekends Butes3, 4 and 5 braved the 90 degree temperatures to attend an Air Show with their Uncles, Aunt and Grandparents. Jeff and I sat this one out and stayed home in the A/C. Uncle Gabe had worked especially hard in the weeks leading up to the outing to educate them on various sorts of planes they would be seeing. He also included a "scavenger hunt" for their air show where they could check off different kinds of planes they would see. It also had a section to check off what they ate, and what they heard (with choices like "Uncle Gabe yelling at me", fortunately no one had checked that one on their list)




All in all it seems a highly successful outing. They came home chattering about AWACS, C-17s and P-51 Mustangs. They took copious pictures, a sampling of which are included along with their comments about the most interesting parts of the show.
Byte 3 liked the AWACS. He says "AWACS stands for Airborne Warning and Control System. It was a huge plane. We went inside and saw lots of seats and gas masks. The people in there would read radar screens and radio the information to other people. We also went in C-17. It was gigantic. They could fit trucks in it."




Bute5 liked Michael Goulian the stunt flyer. "He did barrel rolls, vertical barrel rolls and flying upside down."
Bute4 liked Tora Tora Tora! "It was a reenactment of Pearl Harbor. You could see planes flying around and then huge fire balls with clouds of black smoke. There were air raid sirens going off the whole time."
