Celebration

I am just feeling very grateful to be part of Peter and Carlee's celebration. We had a wonderful rehearsal dinner and I have gotten to know their college and post college friends some. And I have had a fantastic time seeing cousins and aunts and uncles who are spread out all over the country. It is so amazing to me how cousins, whom we often only saw every couple of years growing up, can feel so close as adults. Such a flood of wonderful memories comes back to me every time we are together, even when so much time has passed in between.
The wedding day was beautiful, warm and sunny. The outdoor ceremony went smoothly and Carlee was, of course, a beautiful bride. I had the job of "stage mother" to the two ring bearers and the lovely flower girl. The procession was a long one, across two bridges and up a winding path. Trying to stay out of the pictures and not call attention to myself I had to a herd the three under-5-year-old participants along this path, make sure that the rings were not dropped into the pond, and slink into my seat. The ring bearers stopped to pose for the camera and had to be reminded of their mission. At which point they both remembered they were supposed to find Uncle Gabe at the front of the aisle and broke into a run, competing to see who could deliver their ring first. The flower girl forgot about her flower petals until she got all the way to the front of the aisle. She then proceeded to drop one single petal with great ceremony and then exited stage left. The three of them then proceeded to experiment with the squeaky folding chairs through the rest of the ceremony.








All in all a wonderful celebration with family and friends and we wish Peter and Carlee the best!
